Hi,

Really new to this and trying to sort it out for my son. I have set up my son with a Microsoft Account and he has signed into minecraft on his PS4 but when he goes to add cross platform friends it tells him that he can't as there is some restriction on his Microsoft account. I cannot find how to change this so that he can add friends to it. Please help?!?? My son is desperate to play this with his friends!!

Hi, I am Van. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

This can happen if your child's privacy setting to add friends is disabled. Please follow the steps below to enable this setting.

    1. log in to xbox.com using a web browser.
    2. Once signed-in click your profile picture at the upper-right corner. Then select Xbox profile.
    3. In the Xbox profile click the privacy settings
    4. In the Privacy & online safety click your child's profile then click the "Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety" tab
    5. Scroll down and look for the "You can add Friends" option then click allow to enable it. Then click Submit to save the settings
    6. Run the game and check if he can now add friends.

You can also enable the "You can join multiplayer games" option so your son can play in Multiplayer mode

Please let me know if you need any further assistance, I will be glad to help

    Best regards,

    Van

    Hi Van,

Thanks so much for your post. I assume I would need to log in xbox.com with my microsoft account being the adult so that I can make the changes to my son's account?

I tried the steps you suggested logging in as myself but could not see my son's avatar under Privacy and Online safety tab. Could you advise what step I should try next?

    Kind regards,

    Tiffany

    Hi smokefaerie,

This means that he is not yet a member of the family group. Please do try signing in using your son's Microsoft account and enable the option there.

    Best regards,

    Van
