Ad Hoc Issue

Hello all,

I'm trying to set up an Ad Hoc connection between a computer running Windows 7 and my laptop which runs Windows 10. I set up the ad hoc connection on the Windows 7 computer but when I try to connect to it on my laptop, I'm not even prompted to enter a password, the tooltip simply says that it failed to connect.

As I understand from a similar question and its answer, these has something to do with my laptop's built-in adapter, as some models simply don't support ad hoc. Here's what I get when I type in my laptop's netsh wlan show wirelesscapabilities CommandPrompt, I can make zero sense of this:

Wireless System Capabilities

    Hi DaegoneGirl ,

Windows 10 does not support ad hoc networks. In fact from the report of the command, netsh wlan show wirelesscapabilities results:

    Soft AP : Not supported

    IBSS : Not Supported

Is your Windows 7 computer a desktop PC?

Alternative solution: Configure the Mobile Hotspot on Windows 10, then connect your Windows 7 computer to the Mobile Hotspot.

    Hi,

then you need to install a third party app or software, like this:
