WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

    Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Thanks,

    Paul...

Did you ever find out how to fix this?? 270 other people with the same question and not one reply.

I have the same issue now and my PC is currently unusable.

I was hoping it would fix itself and the app stop running after a while but my disk usage is at 100% constantly.

Is it safe to just end the process??

Bit of a joke really from Microsoft when there's no warnings or prompts, just take over my PC.

I have had the same problem on several occasions - computer slows, task manager shows waasmedic agent has high disk usage. I believe the cause of it is that the computer is in the process of downloading/installing a Windows update from Microsoft. Not the regular second Tuesday of the month "cumulative updates" but out of band Windows updates that Microsoft issues, usually later in the month.

Today, Feb 18, is the third Thursday of February. I started computer, things seemed slow and continued to stay slow. task manager showed high system disk usage (I have HDD drive) and waasmedic agent was the highest disk usage. I rebooted computer. The reboot took a long time.

When computer restarted, I opened windows update settings. A status message about some windows update downloading flashed on the window briefly, then disappeared. Checking windows update history showed that "update for removal of Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 version 20H2 KB45777586" had failed to install on Feb 17.

EDIT: Windows update history also shows that the same removal of Adobe Flash Player update KB45777586 failed to install on Feb 18 - same day as my system was slowed due to waasmedic agent high disk usage.

I believe waasmedic agent today was working on re-doing that update. Rebooting computer stopped the process.

My guess is the only way to prevent this from happening is to keep updates paused in Windows Update Settings, except for when you want the monthly cumulative update.

As long as Microsoft keeps sending these "out of band" updates - which occasionally fail - it is likely some of us will see the waasmedic agent bring our computers to a crawl.

(My computer is running the latest version and most current cumulative update: Win 10 Home Version 20H2 19042.804)

Can't just be the drive, unfortunately. Waas Medic is bugging me on my laptop with no drives connected and only a C: drive on board.

MS really needs to learn to schedule this crappola for times when we don't actually need our computers. Every second day there's some MS process hijacking my machine.

Why doesn't Microsoft respond to this problem.

My system is way to slow now, 100% disk utilization
