Updates / Upgrades from Windows 10 to Windows 11 can be support or unsupported.
The Windows update agent will scan the computer and if it finds unsupported CPU, BIOS settings, Drive partition structure, TPM, etc. it will block the upgrade.
There are 3 opitions:
1) wait to see if the unsupported component later becomes supported
2) modify the registry and other files so that the update agent does not detect the unsupported data and performs the upgrade
3) backup important files to another disk drive or the cloud then clean install Windows 11 then restore important files
Unsupported Windows 11 installations or upgrades may not have the expected improvements in performance and security.
And unsupported upgrades or installations may have problems with Windows updates and Microsoft Defender updates.
There are multiple websites reporting the successful upgrades on unsupported computers.
This includes very old hardware.
This includes desktops, laptops, and tablets.
So each end user must evaluate their risk and benefits and make their decision.
Windows 10 will be fully supported for at least 2 more years.
