I could open eps. files before, but after accidently selecting another program to 'always use' I cannot work out what I was opening it with in the beginning!?!?

Hello there,

Please help.

I received some files for my logo, and other designs which I could open and view perfectly .... but today, I accidently tried to open it with some open office program and didn't untick the 'always use this program' button and now every time I try to open it, it doesn't work.

I have tried to 'open with' but no other programs come up and it wants me to select from the store...

I don't have illustrator or any design programs and I don't know what it was defaulted to open with before... but I cant even select any other program to default to, it just wont let me, there are no options.

I don't want to download any other/new programs because I was able to open them before... I have a feeling they opened in Microsoft Edge, but again I cant even select it no matter which way I try.

The weird thing also, is I have sent the files to 2 other people and they are not able to open them now either... what have I done and how can I undo it, or work out how to change the default back to whatever it was before?

If I go back into the dropbox they were sent in, I can see them in there... its just when I download them and try to open.

Thank you in advance!

Krystal.

Hi Greg, I have tried both options... for some reason, when I go by file, the photos app is not an option to select for eps. files, and it just says to select an app from store... it doesn't allow me to browse other apps I already have already installed?

It is all really limited... I haven't actually come across this before.

Same when I click 'open with' on the file, I get very limited apps to choose from and photos is not one of them and does not come up when I try to browse more.

Krystal, did you try to right click the .eps file and choose Open With, then Photos app, making sure to tick the box to always open with this app?

Krystal, try going into Settings > Apps > Default Apps and make sure Photos app is set as Picture Viewer default.

If that's not enough then try going into Apps > Default Apps > Choose Default by File Type to make sure .eps files are associated with Photos viewer or your choice of Photos app that will open those files.

And more about that file type here:

    Hi Greg,
    Thanks very much for replying.
I have gone through all the file types on the tutorial, but eps isn't there?
