  • Is there any problem to have a 32-bit operating system and x64-based processor?
  • Can my system be updated to x64 based system?
  • My current OS is:

Edition: Windows 10 Pro

Version: 20H2

  • MyRAM is 4.00 GB (3.22 GB usable).
  • My processor is Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual  CPU  E2140  @ 1.60GHz   1.60 GHz.
  • Willinstalling a x64 based OS will damage or cause overheat my CPU due to less RAM because only 3.22 GB of 4.00 GB is usable?

Anyone please help me by replaying to my questions.

Thanks!

    No problem at all.

Can my system be updated to x64 based system?

32-bit hardware cannot be upgraded to 64-bit hardware.

If you already have a computer with 64-bit hardware, and you are currently running the 32-bit version of Windows 10, you will have to do a clean install of the 64-bit version of Windows. The 32-bit version cannot be upgraded to the 64-bit version.

    Hi!

My name is Federico. I'm an Independent Advisor, I'll be glad to help you today.

Yes, you can update to a 64-bit Operating system because the processor is compatible. the advantage of a 64-bit operating system is that you will be able to use the full RAM capacity, in this case, 4GB. However, in this particular case, I would not recommend doing so because it will overheat not because of the ram but because of the clock speed.

I hope this helps solve your inquiry. Do not hesitate to get back to us if you need further assistance. I am more than happy to help

    Best regards,

    Federico
