Conexant audio drivers

Hello,

I am running an HP Zboob 15 G5 laptop, with Windows 10. For a long time it ran fine using the default HD audio drivers. However sometime last year, WIndows decided to install the Conexant audio drivers by default. Once this driver is installed, the laptop report that no speakers or headphones are plugged in. (While using the standard HD audio drivers everything worked fine). No matter what solution found on the web I find, Windows will immediately install the conexant driver again.

Would anyone have any suggestion?

    Good Day Arnold.Tebbens,

My name is Carlo, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

I checked your manufacturers website and found out that the Conexant is the dedicated audio driver for you device that is why it is installing that driver.

Here's the steps you can try.

    -Press Windows key + X

    -Go to Device Manager

-Expand the Sound and Video game controller

-Look for Audio driver that was installed

    -Right click and Uninstall.

Once uninstalled, go to this link below and download the driver.

    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp111001-111500/...

Once downloaded and installed restart your computer and check the audio.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

You have to completly remove the Conexant sh... of your system - even in the driver archive in windows.

Well, I managed to find an alternate source for it...  and followed this guide. How to completely uninstall the Conexant audio driver from Windows 10 (and unlock the May 2020 Update) - Guides and Tutorials - Linus Tech Tips

And lo and behold.. these infernal Conexant drivers still install :S

Hmmm.... I deleted drivers from the stores again, forced... and for the past 20 minutes my laptop is running the MS HD audio driver, and thus far, the ones I shall not name have not been installed again... (yet)... No I dread rebooting)

Thank for your response. I found that link too, however the downloadlink for wushowhide gives me a 404 message. Is there any other way to do this? Registry edit perchance?

Hello, my name is Gaston, I am an independent consultant.

You seem to have driver incompatibility issues with Windows.

If the update causes sound problems, go to the following link to obtain information on how to avoid this update:
