[SOLVED] RODE-NT USB microphone not being recognised

I recently got a RODE-NT USB microphone, to replace a different USB mic that I've never had trouble with. When I plug the microphone into my laptop (HP envy), it doesn't appear in my devices, and device manager says "USB device not recognised". I've tried uninstalling the driver and restarting my laptop, but it still hasn't fixed the problem. I've seen some people have success in fixing this by plugging it into the USB 3.0 port instead of the USB 2.0 port, but for some reason my laptop doesn't even recognise that a device has been plugged in if I use that port with my mic - I'm not getting the USB plug in sound with my mic, but I am with other USB devices? I checked my USB 3.0 drivers and they're all up to date.

I've tried using the mic on another computer and it worked, so I'm sure it is something to do with my laptop, but I have no idea what the problem is, let alone how to fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I had the same problem with error code 43 and I've contacted the Rode support. They were very helpful and suggested to change the USB cable. I had another one from my little label printer and voilà - it worked. It recognised my device and installed the mic. The weird thing is, that the old USB cable worked perfectly with my old laptop, but not with the new one.

I was pretty disappointed at first, because none of the other tipps on the internet had worked. And it was so simple. :)

    Hi,

I had very similar problem you described here, in my case the problem wasn't in a operating system but in a microphone itself.

There is a small screw holding the usb connector in place and in my case it was probably too tight as it shortcut usb-data wire and ground. You must open the mic to find out if this is the case, fortunately it's not difficult.

Unscrew the described screw and connect usb cord, if mic is working normally then you have same problem I had.

I just put some plastic between the screw and usb connector to avoid shortcut. My mic has been working flawlessly since then

    Hello

Whenever I connect my Rode NT USB mini, my video/audio starts buffering[ even the downloaded ones]. When I unplug the cable it starts again smoothly. The microphone and cable works perfectly on other laptops.

I have also reinstalled the drivers a million times and tried changing the USB to C cable, but nothing works. Its a brand new laptop.

When I plug the same cable in the same potr for another devices like my phone and ipad it works perfectly. So the port works smoothly for other devices exept my Rode NT USB mini.

Please solve my problem ASAP as I exceptionally need that microphone for daily use.

Hope you will revert back soon.

I've managed to solve the issue! I had to connect my laptop to power and plug the mic into the USB 3.0 port for it to work! Since my port was being dodgy I had to uninstall and reinstall the USB 3.0 drivers, but that's solved the issue now :-)
