    Hello Vero83121.

I'm Daniel, an independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

One option is to try to go back to the previous build. I apologize if you have tried to do this. I would recommend resetting Windows 10 while keeping your files and applications.

    To do this

    1. Start your PC while Windows tries to load and the spinning dots appear, press and hold the Power button for 5 to 10 seconds. This is known as forced shutdown

    (do this twice)

    1. Turn on the computer a third time and it must be activated in the Recovery Environment
    2. You will be asked to enter System Repair / Safe Mode / Command Prompt
    3. Go to troubleshoot - advanced option - revert to the previous Windows build
    4. If unsuccessful, go to Troubleshooting - Advanced options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and applications.

About the hard drive, I would recommend you to take it to an assistance to find out if it really stopped working or if there was a failure during the installation of Windows

I have a HP purchased in 2013 that came with win 8 and what prevented me from installing win10 was HP wouldn't supply updated drivers so the problem wasn't with windows 10 but HP themselves. If you don't need the added security of a newer OS then stick with what you have.

Hi.  I just saw this message.  I have an HP Desktop (used for part-time work and personal) and when Windows 10 rolled out, my pc crashed with only the blue screen showing.  Thankfully, HP support helped me out but that was a couple of months after the rollout for HP computers were among the top 1-2 brands, which were hit hard.  I'm still on Windows 8 and while it's an old system, it works.  While I read that this issue was addressed, I'm very reluctant to upgrade to Windows 10 21H1 when it rolls out for you know there will be glitches.  If a member of the support community could please let me know if Windows 10 addressed the world-wide effect on HP computers, I would appreciate it.  Hope you were able to resolve your issue and hope this helps!

Thank you.  HP never told me that.  I've been nervous about upgrading to Windows 10 since Windows 8 is functioning ok.

Hi Vero, Who told you it's your hard drive? What error messages did you receive? Does the computer boot at all?
