Can't seem to uninstall/install app (Epicgames), Adobe Premiere Pro, & a few more other apps. Main focus is EpicGames

I have a situation that I initially reached out to the software owner who directed me to Microsoft.

Rocket League and Fortnite were previously downloaded to my computer. I bought a new drive (needed more space) and proceeded to transfer my games from the old harddrive to the new one. All games transferred but Epic Games. So I thought, save the trouble and just uninstall and reinstall them on the new drive.

Well, when I went to uninstall it gave me this error message (Cannot install Epic Game Launcher due to error "The folder path 'Epic Games' contains an invalid character).

I've tried to uninstall the normal way, through powershell, and through cmd and nothing let's me uninstall the game nor be able to locate any of the file's folder to use the uninstall file. When I go to c:/windows/programsfiles, there aren't any EPIC folders. When i try to redownload the software from Epic (.msi file), I immediately get this message when opening up their installer application "The folder path "Epic Games" contains an invalid character."

I've also realized that a few other apps won't delete off the computer even after it shows deleted from the programs and features window. I also restarted multiple times and the files reappear back in the programs and feature window. I've also tried to delete in safe mode and it doesn't let me

I type the above error messages in google and was encouraged to download Restoro which I have and it did not fix anything, although I paid and their website and multiple others said it would fix the above. So i'm at a loss. I don't mind factory reset my computer, I just hate having to reinstall alllll these freaking apps.

    Hi,

Thanks for helping. I've tried these two options prior and it did not fix it. Also in doing the hidden folder task, there are no fodler in there about Epic

Hi LJ. I'm Greg, awarded MVP for eleven years, Volunteer Moderator, and Independent Advisor here to help you until this is resolved.

I'm sorry you got taken by Restoro which is a PUP that mixes it's advertising into legit editorial copy on sites that depend on it's advertising revenue. Always read only the editorial content and ignore the ad links in such articles.

    Try the fixes here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-p...

Open File Explorer, on View tab select Show Hidden Files, then browse to C:\Program Data to delete the files in the folder here:

    C:\ProgramData\Epic\EpicGamesLauncher\Data\Manifests

Then try again to uninstall or reinstall the game launcher.

If not then try the fixes in this video:

I hope this helps. Based on what you report back I can answer any questions and may have other steps to perform.

What were the results of the last steps I gave?

Did you want me to continue helping you?

Which imaging or cloning app did you use to transfer your WIndows install that has now got fatal defects?

How many other apps are involved. I see you mentioned Adobe Premiere Pro. What is it's problem exactly?

The alternative to imaging/cloning is a Clean Install which is a vastly superior install if you do it right. Look over the steps for a gold standard Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible Install of Windows which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given, has zero reported problems, and is better than any amount of money could buy: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

It is also one of life's great learning experiences that will permanently make you the master of your PC because you will learn everything that works best and how to keep it that way.

Next try the fixes specifically from Epic Games, including clearing the AppData cache.

if those don't work choose the link to Contact Support to ask them for guided help.
