How do I reset my Asus TUF A15 gaming laptop to factory settings? Read description

So I recently got an Asus TUF A15 gaming laptop (which is pre-built, with asus software, graphics drivers, armoury crate, Nvidia GeForce control panel etc.) and ran into a problem with the Photos app. I tried resetting the app from settings only for it to go wrong and display 'ms-resource:AppFriendlyName in the start menu. With any attempts to reinstall Photos from the windows store simply outputting 'Error'

After this happened, I tried using powershell to remove the app, and after entering an incorrect command I have uninstalled many crucial windows apps from the system. So for all intents and purpose my OS is now broken and I lack the expertise to fix it.

I am wanting to reset the laptop back to its factory settings but I'm concerned that it is going to remove all of the custom programs that allow for the gaming functionality (such as my Nvidia GFX drivers). There are 2 options, a general 'Reset this PC' option and an 'ASUS recovery' option. Which one do I choose?

I acknowledge that I have made a huge error and I am really kicking myself about what I've done.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you

    Hello TechFan18, welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Luiz Cruz, an independent consultant and I would be happy to help you.

    In that case I recommend that you do the restoration as follows:

    Press Windows key + I and access the settings;

    Click Update and Security;

    Click Recovery;

    In Restore your pc, click Start now;

    You will be able to choose between keeping the files or removing them;

    I hope I helped, see you soon!

    Hi I kinda have the same problem but in my terms the laptop cant boot to the drive. I tried using a rescue disk. everything seems fine. All my files are there even the recovery partition but I wonder why it is not booting.

    Have you made a Win 10 Recovery drive recently?

    If you try to make one now, it might cause a problem, but you could first try running the command below to see if it finds any errors.  If the Windows install is OK, then when you recover from the drive, it will replace the OEM utilities, IF the system came originally installed with Win 10.

    Admin command Prompt:

    sfc /scannow

    Just a note, I know a Win 10 recovery drive can reset the system to Factory and I know this works with Dell systems but I have no experience with ASUS laptops..  They may have an image you could download and use.

    Another note, due to recent Win 10 updates, folks are having printing problems regarding images.  Maybe it is also related to your problem with Photos.
