Hi Magic. I'm Greg, awarded MVP for eleven years, Volunteer Moderator, and Independent Advisor here to help you until this is resolved.

Windows 98 is 23 years old which is 230 in computer years. I am amazed it will even start and run, and there's no way it will be functional for running the software for the embroidery machine. Even if it would install to XP, that is too old now to run reliably or at all for such purposes. The way to try to get really old software to run in Windows is in Compatibility Mode:

Pantograms is now Col Desi.. They have a support number here where you could call them and ask how you might get software that would run that machine. Contact us - Pantograms by ColDesi

If they can't help then Datastitch is the biggest remaining provider of Toyota machines. You can contact them here to ask them what might still possibly work:
https://www.datastitch.com/contactus. They also have a phone contact listed as well as email.

    I hope it helps.

Hi if I need to buy another laptop what windows is best to be compatible with software for the older Toyota A860 machine ,atm what I have is window 98 software that’s why I stuck with it as I didn’t think a newer laptop would have a RS 232 and was not sure a usb to RS232 would work if it would then maybe I should go in that direction to get it running ,this is only for personal use and hobby so trying to keep costs down and use what designs etc I already have , your thought would be appreciated
