Emoji keyboard opens, but doesn't work

I can open the emoji picker with Windows key + period key, but when i choose the emoji it doesn't transfer to any text box I have open. It worked before, now it does nothing.

    Have you tried to restore your computer to a restore point where this problem did not occur?

    To restore from a restore point
    Select the Start Menu and type Control Panel.
    Inside the Control Panel, go to Recovery.
    Now click on Open System Restore and then Next.
    Choose the Restore Point you prefer and click Finish.
