USB generic flash drive issue

Here is one for the books.  It has me puzzled as a novice.  It starts with 5(same)generic USB Flash Drives from online purchase.

The computer(my main user-HP PAVILION P-7 1297=Win10pro20H2).  The 5 USB drives all act the same>on all usb ports<

ISSUES>(1).  Will not recognize all the time.  Have to plug, unplug, plug.  (2).  When recognized,  all 5=exfat.  (3).  All 5 will reformat(Fat32).  (4).  Main ISSUE>once data written,  will not fully display//will display written data, and not open file. Unstable.

(NOW)for the good.  On the same 1297,  Verbatim and Scandisc work just fine, on all the same ports.  On my 4 OTHER HP pc's,  the 5 generics work just fine.  My external WD/HD, and my floppy 3 1/2 works just fine(both USB)and on all the 1297 USB ports.

1297 device manger shows no issues with usb ports.

Disk management shows no problems.  I can scan usb, and reports no problem.  Device Manager shows no issues.

I just can't figure out why these certain 5 usb drives work just fine on other pc's, and not on the 1297.  Then again,  all other usb devices I plug into the 1297 work without issues?????

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

I have decided to just work the project I have on this PC (1297) and burn to dvd and copy to the usb flash drives from another pc.   Not worth all the work for these five,  when all my other devices and drives are working for me.

Hi Vet. I'm Greg, awarded MVP for eleven years, Volunteer Moderator, and Independent Advisor here to help you until this is resolved.

I'll give you everything possible to try for USB dysfunction which we see a lot here:

Update your Chipset and USB drivers from the PC maker's Support Downloads web page for your full model number, HP Serial Number, or Dell Service tag from the sticker on PC.

Compare the latest drivers with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

If no newer or this doesn't help, then go to the USB category in Device Manager, open each Enhanced, Hub and Host controller, from Driver tab select Roll back if available, or if not choose Uninstall.

If your keyboard and mouse are USB, first program the power button to effect the needed restart after Rolling back or uninstalling the driver. Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings > Choose what Power buttons do to choose Shutdown.

Finally find the drive under USB or other device categories, right click to Uninstall Driver, restart PC to reinstall the driver.

If it still doesn't show up, is it read in another PC? If so copy it's files into a folder on the desktop, move it back to the problem PC, wipe and then format the drive in Disk Management:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Greg, I appreciate your response to this. I have come to the conclusion, for the small project I have involving the 5 usb drives, I am going to just do the work on the 1297 and burn to dvd, and copy to usb on another pc. For the fact that all other devices and flash drives work without issue on this pc, i am not going to fuss over it. The one program/hardware change that I did do, change out the front usb panel with 2 usb 3.0 and headphone and mic, may be causing the problem? But, what problem?, as all other devices are working. I am just going to chalk it up to a Work Around for This. Thanks for your response. I have tried some of your options, and plus some and no fix. Not worth any more time involve for this short small project. I will need to figure out how to end this question, as to stop or solved. Thanks, Regards, Gary
