Can't connect Sony Android TV as wireless display

I'm trying to connect my Sony Bravia TV to my Windows 10 laptop as a wireless second screen. At first the TV wasn't appearing at all when I searched for wireless displays. I changed the settings under "Projecting to this PC" to be available everywhere, and to work when not plugged into a power source. Now the TV is visible when I search for wireless displays, but when I go to connect, it thinks for a long time then says "couldn't connect." On the TV it shows that a device has connected. Both devices have miracast, and I can cast from the laptop to the TV. I just can't add the TV for the purpose of having a wireless second monitor.

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not trying to connect an android device. I'm trying to connect my Sony Bravia TV to my Windows 10 laptop as a wireless second screen. I believe the issue is with the Windows 10 platform and not the tv, which is why I'm posting to a windows forum.

    Hello sugarcoookie

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Community.

My name is Lílian, I am an independent consultant and I am very happy to help you today.

If the desired TV does not appear in the Video & TV SideView Wi-Fi Direct device list, change the settings on your Android mobile device as shown below.

The following procedure uses Xperia as an example. The procedure may differ depending on the Android mobile device.

1- Operate the TV to display the standby screen for the Wi-Fi Direct settings on the TV.

For details, refer to the TV's instruction manual.

2- Start the settings menu of the Android mobile device.

    3- Select [Wi-Fi].

4- Select [Wi-Fi Direct] in (menu).

The list of Wi-Fi Direct devices is displayed.

If the desired TV does not appear in the list of Wi-Fi Direct devices, search for the TV using the Android mobile device menu.

5- Select the TV from the list of Wi-Fi Direct devices.

The Android mobile device connects to the TV with Wi-Fi Direct.

6- Start the Video & TV SideView application and register the TV with Video & TV SideView.

For more details, see “Registering your BRAVIA TV with Wi-Fi Direct”.
