You can do this:
- Launch the program
- Launch the Task Manager
- Right-click the program
- Left-click Properties

I am trying to tell Windows 10 where it can find an installed program to use as default, to open a certain file extension. Unfortunately, I cant right click on the shortcut to the program on the start bar and select properties to easily determine the files actual location, as Windows 10 as dumbed everything down, in order to provide a "better" experience. Is there a way to determine a programs actual location without searching for it in explorer? Microsoft really needs to bring back the "properties" menu rather than this useless "app settings"

For me, right-clicking on a program's shortcut and choosing "Open file location" works.
Hi BJudd,
Good day! This is Jhakesong an Independent Advisor and I will be happy to assist you with this.
Are the programs you are trying to find the location installed from the Microsoft Store? If they are, they will not give you a right click context menu where you can find it's location. They are located in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps
On the other hand, apps not coming from the Microsoft Store can be right clicked from the start Menu and select More where there is an option for "Open File Location"
Let me know how it goes. Have a great day!
