Connect to a hidden network on Win 10 through wifi?

So the way windows 10 works is:

The only way to connect to a network is through the network list.

The way hidden networks work is:

It is hidden so it does not show up in any network lists.

Starting to see the problem here?

I contacted windows customer support about this and their brilliant solutions are:

  1. Use Kabel.
  2. Try doing a clean install of windows 10 on your computer.
  3. is not an option because my router connection is far removed from my room. Am I supposed to drill holes in my ceiling/walls and get two 6 meter kables just so my router can connect through my other appliances that use internet? Can you see why this is not an option??
  4. this is not going to magically make the issue go away. The issue being this:

There is no way to connect to a wifi network that does not appear in the network list on windows 10, even if said network is saved as a known network, if it is hidden it will just not show up, and from the known network list there is no "connect to network" option, that option is only available from the regular network list that shows when you open the wifi menu from the taskbar.

Ahhh windows, why, why must you be like this? It's stuff like this that makes me want to jump ship as soon as another OS comes out that is compatible with all my interests like games etc.

Basically just posting this as a correct me if I'm wrong, and boy do I hope I'm wrong! But days of troubleshooting have surely made me very sure of my case.

    I just explained it doesn't connect automatically. Somehow if it doesn't exist in the network list it doesn't exist to windows 10 regardless of whether it is a known network or not as explained in the OP.

    The only thing that would fix it is if the network was possible to connect to from the known network list as an option.

    Besides. I would like to remain in control of when I connect/disconnect by having a manual option, instead of being connected every second of every day as long as my computer is turned on, therefore this "auto connect" option even if it were to function is not a good solution.

    Hi, my name is Talita. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be glad help you today.

    I understand your frustration, as the problem has not yet been resolved. I'll give you this tip, but if it still doesn't work, don't worry. If not, let me know that I will continue with your question

    Method:

    Step 1. Open the system settings and click on "Network and Internet";

    Step 2. On the left side of the window, click on "Wi-Fi". Now, on the right, click on "Manage known networks";

    Step 3. Click on "Add new network";

    Step 4. Finally, enter the data of the Wi-Fi network (name, security type and password) and click "Save". Remember to check the option "Connect automatically" so that the PC connects to the network whenever it is available.

    The hidden Wi-Fi network will be saved and automatically connected to it whenever possible.

    Hidden networks are not displayed in the Wi-Fi list. User needs to know the name to connect

    Please let me know if you have any more questions.

    Sincerely

    Talita C.
