Black screen on startup, then after a minute or two desktop appears!

So i have this laptop for around 3 years now and up until now it has ran pretty smoothly.

Until, one day, once i opened my laptop like usual, and signed in on my account using my password i noticed something was odd. It was a black screen issue. I can still move my mouse around and my taskbar is visible. However, once i use ctrl+Alt+Del to open up task manager to see whats wrong, i realize that the window did not appear and i cannot do anything but search up black screen problems on my phone. In the middle of researching, the desktop suddenly pops up and basically went back to normal.

The problem is that this happens every time i turn on or restart my laptop and also when i sign out of the account then sign back in

i am sure that the problem is not in the hardware as the black screen did not occur on my work account.

Is there a way on how to fix this?

Dear HanssenGio,some users are having this problem with the latest update;

In that case I recommend that you try to restore the system by following the instructions below:

Press Windows key + I to access system settings;

Click Update and Security;

Click Recovery;

In Restore your pc, click start now and follow the instructions on the screen to restore;

You will be able to choose between keeping personal files or removing them;

I hope I helped, see you soon!

    Dear HanssenGio,you can try to uninstall the latest update as well:

    Press Windows key + I and access the system settings;

    Click Update and Security;

    Click View Update History;

    Click Uninstall updates;

    Try to right-click on the latest update to uninstall, if the uninstall option does not appear, it will not be possible to uninstall this update;

    If you prefer to wait for the next Windows update, feel free;

    I hope I helped, see you soon!

    Hello Luiz!

    I have tried to use system configuration and task manager to disable all the applications that may hinder the loading of my windows 10. However it seems to have not done the trick and the black screen continues to happen.

    Does this have anything to do with a corrupted Windows 10 update? or the problem lies somewhere else?

    Hello HanssenGio, welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Luiz Cruz, an independent consultant and I would be happy to help you.

    Initially I recommend that you follow the instructions below:

    Check for new updates on Windows Update:

    1: Open the Windows 10 "Start" menu and select the "Settings" item.

    2: then select the "Update and Security" option.

    3: in the "Windows Update" section, click "Check for updates".

    4: If there are no updates, the message "You are up to date" will be displayed.

    5: if there is any pending system update, the message "Features update for Windows 10 ..." will be displayed, then click on the "Download and install" item to start the system update.

    6: wait for the update download to finish and restart the PC, or schedule a restart to be able to finish the procedure.

    Make a clean boot:

    Clean boot serves to determine whether a background program is interfering with the system or optimizing system loading.

    1. Press the Windows + R keys, type msconfig and click OK;
    2. In the System Configuration window, click on the services tab;
    3. At the bottom of the screen, check the Hide all Microsoft services box and click Disable all;
    4. Now click on the Programs Startup tab and on Open Task Manager;
    5. When loading the task manager, click on the start tab and disable all non-Microsoft programs (right-click on the program and choose disable), close the Task Manager and click OK on system configuration and restart computer if requested.

    NOTE: This procedure disables all third party services and programs. You can later, if the problem is solved in this way, selectively enable the programs and services that will start with Windows, instead of keeping all disabled. If the problem returns after activating the startup of a specific service or program, the problem is exactly in the startup of this software and it is recommended to remove it.

    Restart the pc and see if the crash still happens;

    I hope I helped, see you soon!
