Unable to install Windows 10 - Error 0x8007025D - 0x2000C - The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during APPLY_IMAGE operation

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me.

I am trying to put Windows 10 on my dad's laptop that he is selling.

It has out of the box, never updated Windows 7 os. I have tried to upgrade to Windows 10 and I get this error message.

On looking at this site it seems it might be a driver problem but when I run a check on drivers it says they are all up to date.

I just don't know what to try next. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

    Hi

The really cause of the issue is: The image (windows 10) you try to install is not compatible with your previous image (Windows 7 os ). You have one choice save all the files that your Dad needs on an external drive. Then go for clean install.

Before go ahead, what is your Dad Laptop manufacturer (fujitsu) and model name? You can find it at the back of the laptop or winlogo+R>then type msinfo32 then hit ok button.

It also might be related to this.. What is causing this problem is not clear with just an error log..

Thanks Ali, were there no Setupact.log files in the Panther folder?

:AntiMalwareDataSource::ReadExpiredAmReportingExesFromRegistry (294): Failed to get persisted reg location: [0x80004005].[gle=0x80004005]

It looks like it is something related to antivirus, which one do you use?

    Hi,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor.

Let us check the Installation log to find why the update failed. Please share the following logs:

The Panther logs. Files named Setupact.log and Setuperr.log from the following path C:$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther

The Rollback logs: These usually are created if Windows Update rolls back. Files named Setupact.log and Setuperr.log from the following path C:$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback

[Only if the error code is 0xC1900101-0x30018] The Device Install Log from C:/$Windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback\setupapi\setupapi.dev.log

To upload files here, see the following article. You must copy the logs to the desktop first and then upload.

As the log size might be large consider zipping everything before uploading.
