Windows 10 no longer mirrors to my Roku

I successfully mirrored my Windows 10 laptop to my Roku Streaming Stick 3800R a couple of months ago but now am unable to do so. The problem doesn't appear to be due to outdated drivers (mine are current) or an intrusive firewall (disabling it has no effect). Here's the really weird part: Windows shows me the Roku device in the mirroring control screen, but when I try to connect to it, the Roku on my TV switches to "Starting video from..." and shows a progress bar -- as if I'd been mirroring a specific video earlier, which is not the case. Then, after a few minutes, Windows reports "Couldn't connect."

I've tried removing the Roku device from Windows and then adding it back. I've restarted my laptop and rebooted Roku (disconnecting it from the TV as well as from the power source). I contacted Roku support, and they had me reset the network (wifi) connection, make sure the software is updated, remove and re-add mirroring devices, and even disable/reenable wifi on my laptop. None of these helps.

Has anyone seen this particular symptom, with a display of a nonexistent video already in the process of supposedly being mirrored or viewed?  Any suggestions beyond the standard troubleshooting routines?

Many thanks!

I may have found the solution, worked for me so far.  I got this response on the Roku Community, tried the suggested solution, however did not fix the issue.  On a whim I restored my McAfee firewall to default and voila, I am now able to connect to my Roku!!  Let me know if it works for you.

Go to Firewall, then to My Network Connections. You'll see a list of, well, connections. My first one was my WiFi Check each one, and make sure their listed properly (for me it was home. if you see your wifi and it's right, make sure they all match that one)).  If you find anything different form your usual network, click it and then click EDIT to change it. Once I fixed that eerant Work to Home, I found my computer could cast to my Roku TV once more

Thanks, I did as suggested, however seemed to have no effect.  I restarted my router, laptop and Roku and still not change.  I then restored my Firewall, in McAfee, to "Default" and viola now I can connect to my Roku once again.  Hopefully it will stay that way! Thanks again for your assistance.  Keith

I am having the same issue.  Just started recently, last was able to connect March 06, 2021, and now no longer able to connect.  Updates were done from MS on March 13, 2021, I removed all of them to see if that would work, however no luck.

Have you had any luck finding a solution?

    Thanks.

Since no one has replied to this in a week, I'm wondering whether anyone might suggest another forum where I'm likely to hear some ideas.  Thanks.

Thank you!  I had to reset the firewall in Mcafee.

Thanks, I will post if I find a solution.

The only thing I have not tried is resetting my Roku devices back to factory settings and starting new from there.  Have you tried this? Just thought I would ask before going through that!

Also, I am able to connect using YouTube to cast to Roku.
