Registry Cleaner

I was looking for ways to boost my computer's performance, so I thought getting a registry cleaner would help. I did some research and the two most highly rated cleaners were Iolo System Mechanic and CCleaner. I'm not sure which is safer and more amateur friendly, so I wanted some advice. Thanks.

Registry cleaning programs are *all* snake oil. Cleaning of the registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of, having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you. The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit it may have.Readhttps://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2563254http://www.howtogeek.com/171633/why-using-a-registry-cleaner-wont-speed-up-your-pc-or-fix-crashes/https://blog.malwarebytes.org/social-engineering/2015/06/digital-snake-oil/and also http://blogs.technet.com/markrussinovich/archive/2005/10/02/registry-junk-a-windows-fact-of-life.aspxhttps://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2563254You also might want to read the section on the CCleaner Registry Cleaner here:http://www.howtogeek.com/113382/how-to-use-ccleaner-like-a-pro-9-tips-tricks/Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry cleaner and never had a problem with it,  and that's why you see recommendations for them.Rather, the problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it the substantial *risk* of having a problem. And since there is no benefit to using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad bargain.

    Hi Shayan,

I'm Independent Advisor not Microsoft employee or support person. I have deep enough Windows knowledge and you may trust me. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you.

Microsoft does not support the use of registry cleaners - see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/256325...

There is no safe registry cleaner, any of them may corrupt your Windows. And this corruption may be revealed several months later unfortunately.

As for optimisation please read my old but still actual article: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    Hi Shayan,

None Of Them. It is recommended that you Never use a Registry Cleaner with Windows 10. Windows 10 does a excellent job of taking care of itself. So (IMO) if you use a registry cleaner you are just asking for trouble.

    I Hope This Helps
