Connect to all wifis with same SSID and password

Hello,

I have a Windows 10 tablet and have multiple routers in different locations. These routers all have the same SSID and password.

Is there a way to tell my Windows 10 tablet to connect to all these routers without having to connect manually to each of them?

In an older device, just by connecting to one of the routers, the device would connect to a new router because the SSID and password were the same, but this doesn't work anymore in my new tablet.

Is there something I can do to solve this?

Thank you

    Hi mikellarrañaga1 ,

the situation is now very clear.

First, in the list of available networks, make sure the checkbox, Connect automatically, is checked.

When you are connected with the tablet, go to Network Connections, right click on the WI-FI Connection> Status> Wireless Properties, make sure all the checkboxes are checked. Go to Device Manager> network adapters, select your wi-fi adapter, click on the Advanced tab at the top, if the Wireless Roaming option is present in the list, make sure it is enabled or set to medium-maximum value.

    Try again.

    Hi franco d'esaro,

    Thank you for your answer.

I have 2 routers, A and B for example, in different physical locations (a few km away). I have configured these 2 routers to have the same SSID and password.

I have also 2 devices: 1 raspberry and 1 windows tablet.

In the raspberry, I connected to the router A and then, when I moved the raspberry to the location of router B (it was the first time router B and the raspberry "saw" each other), the raspberry automatically connected to the wifi of router B.

In the windows tablet, I connected to router A and then, when I moved it to the location of router B, it did not connect automatically.

My question/problem is, what is making the windows tablet work differently? Can I do something to tell the windows tablet to connect to all wifis with a certain SSID and password, regarthless of the router who is creating this wifi?

Thank you, I hope I explained it better this time.

    Kind regards

    Hi,

Hi, it is the router that validates the wireless client's MAC when it connects.

But  do you have a business or home network? Are all your routers connected on the same line or does each router have its own line?

You talk about routers but are they all routers or Access Points? Or do you have a single router and several Access Points?

Make it clear how your network is structured.

    Hi franco d'esaro,

    Thank you for your response.

My routers don't support Band Steering.

I was investigating a bit more and found something that could be related to the problem.

Does windows have a MAC validation when connection to a WiFi?

This could cause that only the same combination of SSID, password and MAC values are stored, hence different routers with same SSID and password are not connected automatically with the Windows tablet.

Is there a way to disable this MAC validation?

    Thank you

    Hi mikellarrañaga1 ,

if your routers support the Band Steering option, enable this option on all routers.
