Hello! I decided to check for any updates on my computer and I stumbled upon the "optional updates".

And I found these:

How do I determine what to install or whether to install them at all? Your insights would be of great help! Thank you so much!

    Hello km554,

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

If you do not experience any issues with your system, it is not advisable to install these optional updates. I recommend downloading and installing the latest drivers from your Manufacturer's Support Page instead of Windows Update.

Please try using the “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter to hide the driver update. Window Update won’t install hidden drivers or updates. Run the troubleshooter then please try hiding all the driver updates that will show in the list. You may try restarting your pc if it helps.

Unfortunately, the official download link for "Show or Hide Updates" troubleshooter has been broken or removed. You can safely download the "Show or Hide Updates Troubleshooter" in this alternative site.

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

    Kind regards,

    It's a personal preference.

If you use Dell and HP they use software to update drivers.

End users have choices now with the new method of updates..

Some end users can use Microsoft default drivers.

Others want the most up to date drivers for optimal performance.

I prefer the most up to date BIOS and drivers.
