All my apps are freezing, not responding, and crashing at random (Windows Apps like Settings and Control Panel included)

Around 4/20/2021 in the morning, all my apps still function properly. Around noon time the first sign of my apps not responding happened. I assumed it was because of the windows updates that cannot install on my laptop, so I had to take action. I've tried to use the ISO method to install the updates, which worked, but gave more problems to my PC. Now it's not just one application that not responds randomly anymore.

Everything I open, whether its Firefox, my games, even the taskbar suddenly not responds at random. Some even crash. I also found out that my windows version changed from 1909 to 20h2. Earlier today, 4/22/2021, i reverted back to 1909 because I thought it might be because of the sudden update to a different version. Sadly the issue still remained. I checked SFC, which scanned errors, but was fixed fast. I also checked CHKDSK, but it didnt fix the main problem. I checked Security and Maintenance too, which displayed a driver error. I got rid of the error by doing a startup repair from windows settings, but unfortunately that also did not fix the issue. I tried updating my drivers in device manager, but everything is up-to-date.

Updates i cannot install before:
cumulative updates from january up to the latest april patch

My PC specs:

CPU: Intel core i5-8250U

RAM: 12gb

GPU: AMD Radeon R5 M435

I appreciate any help that you can give to me. I'm in need of a fix so that I can go back to the stuff i can do ASAP. Thanks

    Hi MoogieTf2,

Thank you for the update. It is possibly a bad hard drive. One thing to do to test it out is to do a clean installation on Windows. After a clean wipe check if the freezing issue still exists. If it does, then we can conclude that the hard drive is about to fail.

    Hello!

So, I have tried what you said. I have done a repair upgrade earlier today. After the update, all seemed to be running smoothly until around an hour or 2 have passed. As of writing this reply my firefox and my windows apps like file explorer freezes up and not responds.

Also, my security and maintenance section in control panel have displayed that drive errorshave been detected. Several restarts later and the notice still did not get away. i tried SFC once again, saying there was an error and has been repaired, but the issue is still there.

My guess is that maybe it is a faulty hard drive (or its firmware)? earlier i was playing a game when an error message popped up saying that there is a corruption in the file. The game still worked after the error notice pop-up, apart from the usual freezing every now and then. It also happened on another game, which crashed because thegame file failed to load properly.

I have generated a CBS log file from CHKDSK, so ill provide it down below. i do not know where to look at in order to find out what really is causing all of these. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks
