Laptop is lagging all of a sudden

I opened started the laptop and it was lagging a lot, even simple tasks like open task manager were taking more than 20 seconds. I thought it was the hard disk or the CPU, but nothing was wrong with them.

I was starting to think it was a virus or a trojan, but the antivirus didn't find anything wrong. I used the windows defender deep scan, then AVG deep scan, and malwarebytes, but nothing was found.

I turned off my internet connection, and went into safe boot to check if something was wrong with my system.

I used a registry cleaner, and fixed the problems, but it was still lagging like before. A weird thing I noticed is that exactly the same issues were detected after restarting the laptop.

So here is what I think the problem might be, although I'm not sure if these are the cause of the lag:

1 Windows has corrupt files, but I didn't find any integrity violations, but every time I turn on the laptop, i recieve a bios message saying that it can not determine the power AC.

  1. A keylogger, but the disk is not used and neither the CPU has a weird behavior (none of the threads are used at 100%).
  2. The drivers, but I can't check if they are outdated because of the huge lag. The sound of the computer is lagging
  3. The most realistic reason i can find is a disk defragmentation, as the lag seems similar to one of a disk used to 100%, but it doesn't explain the low fps, even the desktop is lagging and things like the file explorer run at around 5 fps.

I want to mention that I had to reset my computer because of this, but It doesn't recognize any stick so I couldn't boot the computer, I had to reinstall windows through windows, yet the same problem seems to appear in less than a week.

Im sorry for my bad English and if this question is not in the right category, but I would appreciate if someone has an idea of what is going on with my computer.

    Good Day RoyalGamer1,

My name is Carlo, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

First, can you please take a screenshot of your Task Manager for me to check what are the processes and services running in the background for me to provide an accurate recommendation.

-Click Star, type Task Manager and open it.

-Click Processes Tab and take a screenshot and post it here.

For the meantime , try to boot your computer using cleanboot.

    1. Open the run box by pressing the Windows Key + R and type msconfig
    2. System Configuration Utility box will open and by default you are on general tab.
    3. On the General tab, click the selective startup and make sure that load system service and load startup items both have checked mark.
    4. Click on services tab
    5. Put a check mark on Hide All Microsoft Services
    6. Once Hide all Microsoft Services have checked mark on it, click on Disable All
    7. Click on the Startup Tab and click open task manager. This will open another window which contains all your startup applications on the administrator account.
    8. Disable all application that you're not using. You can simply just click on them and select disable.
    9. Click OK, Apply and close the configuration utility
    10. Restart your pc and check the performance.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

    Greetings RoyalGamer1,

I appreciate your time getting back to this thread, glad to know that the cleanboot works, based on the screenshot , the Brave and AVG is taking most of your memory.

Reset the Brave you are using disable any unknown extension.

You can visit this link on how to.

    https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/360...

For the AVG antivirus , this will be your discretion if you want to uninstall it, since there is a pre-installed antivirus in your computer which is the Windows Security, I am only using Windows Defender in my computer.

Restart your computer and observe the performance.

I hope the information above helps.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

Thank you so much!  I saw a huge improvement in performance after I disabled all of the services.
Also, here are the screenshots you asked  for:
