RTX 3080 Crashing

Hello,

I am experiencing crashes in multiple different games. I originally thought the crashes were purely related to Call of Duty games but I have now experienced crashes in Doom Eternal, Madden 21, and Rocket Arena. Funnily enough, I never experienced a crash in Cyberpunk...

Anyways, the most recent error I've had was in Madden 21 which stated
DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The GPU will not respond to more commands"). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080", Driver: 46192. This error is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing: try installing the latest driver.

My Warzone crash code is typically 6068. I'm not sure what my other codes are in other games. However, I've experienced crashes through multiple different driver updates. I've tried doing a new install of windows. I've tried dropping the clockspeed down on the GPU. I've tried removing the XMP file of my RAM. I've tried creating a new username. I use discord while gaming and have turned off hardware acceleration.

I just experienced a crash and here are some logs from Event Viewer. The logs are not always the same.

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

This last code ALWAYS shows in event viewer no matter the game I play (when it crashes). I've tried chatting with Nvidia and at this point, they have requested that I try putting the GPU in a different system to test it out. I don't have access to another system to test it out, unfortunately... Considering getting it tested a microcenter if needed.

My PC parts are: 3700x, 750watt Bronze EVGA PSU, Strix 3080. Some people say if I upgrade my PSU then my problems will go away while others state they have the exact same problems as me with better PSUs.

Other things, I've tried running in debug mode, using only one monitor, using low game settings, using totally different monitors, and probably a ton of other things that I've just forgotten.

    Great to know! Thanks! I haven't had any crashes since I dropped my core clock speed to reference levels and turned off hardware acceleration in google chrome.

    I have to do both of those things though. If I do one without the other, it'll crash with a 6068.

    So my problem appears to be fixed now but I am still running the 461.92 driver. The two things I did to fix the problem (fixed as far as I know, could crash in a week from now) were to drop the core clock speed down to reference levels and TURN OFF HARDWARE ACCELERATION IN CHROME. The factory overclock appears to be too much and the background processes of chrome would push the Vram over its limit.

    Hello,

    Thanks for helping! I've done exactly what you've said and had the exact same crash occur after gaming for about 30 minutes.

    Dear SamuelWunderly,I understand that even after performing the above procedures, the problem still remains;

    In that case I recommend that you follow the instructions below:

    If you have installed Geforce Experiencie, uninstall it;

    Disable Steam Cloud Sync:

    1] Open your game's Steam client.

    2] Right-click on the problem game and select Properties.

    3] Go to the Updates tab and clear the check box corresponding to Enable Steam Cloud Synchronization.

    4] Apply the changes and restart the system.

    Check for new updates on Windows Update:

    1: Open the Windows 10 "Start" menu and select the "Settings" item.

    2: then select the "Update and Security" option.

    3: in the "Windows Update" section, click "Check for updates".

    4: If there are no updates, the message "You are up to date" will be displayed.

    5: if there is any pending system update, the message "Features update for Windows 10 ..." will be displayed, then click on the "Download and install" item to start the system update.

    6: wait for the update download to finish and restart the PC, or schedule a restart to be able to finish the procedure.

    Cif the problem still persists, do the same procedure of removing the driver with the DDU;

    After removing it, go to the NVIDIA website and download the penultimate driver for your video card, here > https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/

    Note: Download the following driver > GEFORCE GAME READY DRIVER - WHQL

    Driver Version: 461.92 - Release Date: Tue Mar 16, 2021

    Restart the pc and do the test;

    I hope I helped, see you soon!

    Hello SamuelWunderly, welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Luiz Cruz, an independent consultant and I would be happy to help you.

    Initially I recommend that you uninstall the video driver using the DDU, here > https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-dr...

    After removing the driver with the DDU, go to nvidia's website and download the latest drivers from your graphics card, here > https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.a...

    Make a clean boot:

    Clean boot serves to determine whether a background program is interfering with the system or optimizing system loading.

    1. Press the Windows + R keys, type msconfig and click OK;
    2. In the System Configuration window, click on the services tab;
    3. At the bottom of the screen, check the Hide all Microsoft services box and click Disable all;
    4. Now click on the Programs Startup tab and on Open Task Manager;
    5. When loading the task manager, click on the start tab and disable all non-Microsoft programs (right-click on the program and choose disable), close the Task Manager and click OK on system configuration and restart computer if requested.

    NOTE: This procedure disables all third party services and programs. You can later, if the problem is solved in this way, selectively enable the programs and services that will start with Windows, instead of keeping all disabled. If the problem returns after activating the startup of a specific service or program, the problem is exactly in the startup of this software and it is recommended to remove it.

    Restart the pc and test with the games again;

    I hope I've helped, see you soon!
