hello

someone stole my laptop a couple of days ago

I tried to locate it using Microsoft find my device

And my laptop popped up and it said that "find my device", was turned on

so I clicked locate and it said that my laptop was at 0% and it was last located in Mumbai

yet I live in southern Africa

I check everyday for any changes but its the same thing

why is this

**when I checked today it said it was last seen in Kheri Barkesh, India but it always said it was last seen in Mumbai, which is still wrong because I live southern Africa

the battery still flat though ***12/3/2021

my stolen laptop showed that it was near the person I suspected and now it shows that it s in India

the thief must have either gave it a factory reset or they turned of location

that is crazy yeah I freaked out too when I saw my Windows mobile phone (not lost or stolen) and current (currently using) PC desktop computer showing that it is located in Kheri Barkesh India.   Given that so many people have indicated the same issue it looks like Kheri Barkesh is a default location when the actual location cannot be determined so it is false information.  Also that location seems to be false it is probably the default location for generic India.  Microsoft could have done a better job and just said "location unknown".  It also gives insights into Microsoft's development centres and the software is probably developed in India.  LOL

    thanks

I was wondering why I never got the exact location of the laptop I'm using when I track it using Microsoft even though I have my location turned on to default and everything

is it because Microsoft isn't accurate or is there something I'm doing wrong

do you get the exact location when you try to locate the laptop you have

Here is what's happening...Most likely you have not

    1. Enabled location services AND/OR
    2. Set default location

I lost one laptop and have 3 other ones next to me. Except one that's with me, the lost and the 2 other laptop that's with me all show Mumbai 'Null' Bazar as the location.

Checking the 3 laptops with me, both that show 'Null Bazar' both didn't have location services turned on and they didnt have a default location either. So, programmatically, a string set to it's default for initialization, (as NULL), is being used by the location services to search for a location called NULL.

Trying search for 'location null' there are only two places show up

    1. Null Bazar in Mumbai, India
    2. Null Island in the Gulf of Guinea, Atlantic Ocean, West African Coast

Not sure why the first choice is what's displayed but the NULL lookup by the software sure could be reason for the display.

After setting the location services and default services, life is back to normal again! :)

what is the thief decided to reset my laptop is there a way I could tell that he did

and will my laptop still be under the 'my devices ' list
