Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 keeps waking up PC screen

Hi!

I am using Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5050 (Mouse 5000 and Keyboard 5050). The mouse wakes up the PC screen immediately after it goes to sleep. I have tried putting the mouse on different surfaces, I even turned it upside down to see if would make a difference but the result is the same. Screen goes to sleep as defined in power settings but then it immediately turns back on. This problem only goes away if a) I remove the batteries from the mouse or b) if I disconnect the wireless dongle.

Please fix it, this is very annoying.

Regards,

Niko

This seems more likely to be a mouse problem rather than a windows one. Does this happen on another computer too ? If the mouse continually sends data i can see why it would wake the screen every time, and from what i see it is a common problem with microsoft wireless dongles

My PC is a workstation that needs to be on 24h, so it never goes to sleep unless there's a power outage that lasts long enough to drain the UPS battery to a critical level. I just configure the PC to turn off my two LCD screens after 20 minutes of inactivity but Microsoft mouse 5000 botches it because unless I remove the mouse battery or unplug it from the PC altogether, the screens turn off after 20 minutes, as configured, but then immediately turn back on again.

This is extremely weird, because your mouse shouldn't have anything to do with the screen once your computer is sleeping. Whatever happens to the screen comes from the computer itself. Is there any message on the display ?

My problem is not about the mouse waking up the computer, it's about the mouse preventing the SCREEN to turn off after the specified period of inactivity. My PC can go to sleep without a problem and I can wake it up with the mouse whenever I decide to, but as a desperate measure, I even tried unchecking "Allow this device to wake the computer". It did not solve the problem.

    Hello,

If you don't want to turn off your mouse, you can prevent it from waking up the computer. To do that go to your device manager, open the mouse settings and uncheck Allow this device to wake the computer

I'm waiting for your feedback ^^

    Have a good day
