Are any of those named Apps actually uninstalled? Compare to the All Apps list in Start Menu. What is Internet Download manager?

Were you able to re-register the Start Menu?

Where do you see that this unnamed app is still running when you are trying to shut down? This is only slightly likely to be the cause of your lag, so let's look at the more likely causes while still pursuiing the ghost app.

  1. Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 17 to test a new Local Admin account. Then if necessary continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

  1. Update your drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page.

  1. If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version, and solves most problems. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

One of those should resolve all problems.

    Hello Mr.Greg

Oh yea I missed the check box to run it as administrator on Step 1, but the problem remains, for Step 3, there is a lot of apps that I don't know where they came from, I mean the one that I installed and useless or it's needed for my pc to work, I tried Step 4 and delete all the folder with nothing inside and the one that I already uninstalled but the problem is remains

Side Note: I don't know this is related or not, but I believe this program sometimes make my pc lag after 20-30 minute usage, because when my pc lag, I usually restart my pc and I see there is this unnamed program still running and holding me for 2 sec from restarting the pc, and then that program force stopped and the pc restart.

this is the program list for step 3

    Hi Kevin -

On Step 1 did you check the option to Create this task with administrative privileges? Try doing it over to see.

On Step 3, type regedit in search, choose Run as Administrator, clear the address box at top of editor, copy and paste into the box:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Press Enter, go to the Uninstall key in left hand pane, scroll down to the named Apps to see if there are any blank listings, or Apps that have already been uninstalled, right click to Delete.

When you attempt Step 4, you said there is no blank shown, but how about any App you previously uninstalled that is stuck and needs deleting there? Compare with the All Apps list to see if one remains that should be gone.

Hello Mr. Greg, thanks for replying to my question

I tried point one but it says access denied, I tried point 2, but it did not work, I do not understand point 3, but I tried to look in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ but I don't understand it, I tried point 4 and I can't find any blank listing with hidden files checked, I tried to do point 5 earlier today because I thought maybe I can uninstall it from there too but I can't found any program with no name

Hi Kevin. I'm Greg, awarded MVP for eleven years, Volunteer Moderator, and Independent Advisor here to help you until this is resolved.

    1. Re-register the Start Menu from https://www.kapilarya.com/re-register-start-men...
    2. f you can right click on the ghost app to see the menu, choose More, then Show File Location which will reveal the app where you can delete it's shortcut from appearing in Start Menu. If no File Location is there anything else when you click on it at all?
    3. But since nothing appears it may not have a shortcut, in which case remove ghost from the location in registry for Start Menu All Apps list as shown here:

    https://superuser.com/questions/1363199/remove-...

    https://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/104776-...

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/10529-add-r...

    1. Open File Explorer, from View tab choose to Show Hidden Files, then copy and paste into address box:

    \programdata\Microsoft\windows\start menu\programs

See if there is a blank listing to delete.

    1. Type CP in Start, open Control Panel, then choose Programs and Features, see if you can locate the app there to highlight and Uninstall.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
