Pro Controller Not Working With PC Anymore

I normally play my PC games with the Switch Pro controller, but in the middle of playing a steam game my controller stopped working all together. My PC detects the pro controller in "Control Panel Devices" but in the actual "Game Controllers" configuration it does not show up for input testing. Neither Bluetooth or a wired connection worked. When connecting through Bluetooth or wired. The controller says it's connected, but no inputs work.

  • I've been struggling with this for 2 days straight now and still have yet to find a solution.

I have tied:

  • Connecting to another computer. Both with wired and wireless worked just fine. It's only this computer.
  • Tried every USB port available. Uninstalled and reinstalled every driver I could find. (Of course with restarting PC each time)
  • Tested other controllers such as the Joy-cons, 8Bitdo, PS4 controllers. All worked perfectly.
  • Steam big picture is also not detecting the controller.
  • Every other controller is detected just fine I have tried 3rd party software such as XInput and BetterJoyForCEMU.
  • None of those worked as my controller is just not getting detected in the Game Controllers.

Windows is detecting the Pro Controller just fine. In the picture as shown, any controller I connected would normally show up there for input testing.

Thank you for your time.

    HEY! I SOLVE THIS!

I don't know if you already solve this problem, but, I gonna post a tiny text if someone visit this forum for a help.

Like many pro controller users, you probably must have used the pro controller to play on a Switch or Wii U emulator. If I'm right, my solution is for you.

You probably used BetterJoy so that the control can be configured on the emulator. This software is perfect, because it is possible to use even the gyroscope!

However, it installs certain drivers on Windows that end up getting in the way if you want to use the pro controller on Steam, for example.

I had the same problem as you, and the solution I found was:

follow this path >> \ BetterJoy_v6.4a_x64 (BetterJoy Folder) \ Drivers \ HIDGuardian \ >>> right click on it (Uninstall) >>> run as administrator >>> wait to finish >>> restart the PC and if you want to also take out the bluetooth adapter and disconnect the controller >>> connect the controller again >>> check if the controller appears as "Wirelless Gamepad" in the controller settings ("joystick" on search star menu)

I'm having the exact same problem, I don't know if it was a new windows update because my Pro Controller was working perfectly fine before

I use wired, and I fixed it just by updating my windows to the latest version

Same issue, I've been looking for a solution. Since about mid-October, bluetooth has been broken for xinput.
