Windows 10 not detecting headset mic

Hello,

I recently bought a Turtle Beach headset optimized for PC. When I plug it in, it works fine and all, but my laptop doesn't think it has a mic. The mic works and I used it while playing Fortnite. I saw the device name but it was called "{OPTION}". How do I make sure my laptop can recognize the mic on my headset and what is the headset's mic's device name?

Thanks, Catty

P.S. Don't judge me, I don't play Fortnite that much anymore, it's gone bad.

    Good Day CattyMeowyCom,

My name is Carlo, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

First, try to connect your headset using other device for us to check if the issue is with the computer or the headphone mic itself.

If the mic cannot be detected using other device means it is faulty.

if the headphone mic works with other device proceed with the steps below.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix....

    -Press Windows key + X

    -Go to Settings

    -Click Update and Security

    -Click Troubleshooter then Additional troubleshooter.

-Look for Speech and run the troubleshooter.

Once done proceed with these steps.

    -Press Windows key + X

    -Go to Device Manager

-Expand the Sound and Video game controller

-Look for Audio driver that was installed

    -Right click and Update

    -Go to Control Panel

-In Control Panel, select Large icons from the View by drop down menu.

    -Select Sound.

    -Select the Recording tab

-Right click the Headphone Microphone and click Enable.

-Right-click it again and select Set as Default Device.

-Right click headphone Microphone and click Properties.

-Click the Levels tab, then drag the volume slider towards the largest value.

    -Click OK

    -Click Advance Tab

-Uncheck the box to "Allow application to take exclusive control on this device"

    Restart and check the Microphone.

If issue persist, let's download the updated driver.

What is the exact model of your computer?

To check the system model proceed with these steps.

    -Press Windows key + R

    -Type msinfo32 and hit enter.

-Look for the System Model and post it here.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

    Hi Carlo,

Thanks for responding. I am using an ASUS VivoBook 15" Model X509FJ. It uses Realtek Audio.

Unfortunately, in the input device box, the only device listed was Microphone (Realtek(R) Audio), which is my laptop's internal mic. I even checked it because my laptop's internal mic is very bad and has limited volume. I did an audio test in which I recorded using Voice Recorder, using the input device that was Microphone Realtek (R) Audio. It was indeed my laptop's internal mic. My headset has a clearer mic and it's not like any of that cheap stuff you see in the stores. It was $49 from EB Games. Any way to resolve this error? Please GBTM soon.
