USB Wireless Mouse Not Working Suddenly?

Okay, before I explain my situation it's my first time posting a question here, so apologies if I mess up or something.

I have this usb mouse that's wireless (you basically just connect the usb to the computer and it works) and my laptop is an IdeaPad S540. It worked fine for like, a year, before it just stopped working a couple days ago. Like, when I connected the usb to the computer, the mouse just didn't work, as in didn't move the cursor at all, didn't scroll and didn't click and all. I tried replacing batteries but that didn't work. And it worked on another computer, and this laptop works with other usb devices such as my drawing tablet. I really have no idea what's the issue, so if someone could inform me on this it'd be great. I've tried solutions like updating drivers, but that didn't work at all. I'm getting a new mouse tomorrow, but I want to at least see if I could get the old one working again.

    Hi Thisismycomputerdonttouchorelse -

I'm Kevin B. Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

Are there any recent changes made on the computer before the issue started?

Please follow the steps below and check if it helps resolving the issue.

Try to use other USB port on your computer and check if the mouse works on other USB ports.

If updating the driver did not resolve the issue, try to rollback the driver of your mouse and check if it works.

    Press windows key + X

    Select Device Manager

On the device manager, locate and expand Mice and other pointing devices

Right click on the mouse driver that is currently installed

    Select Update Driver

Select Browse my computer for drivers

Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer

List of installed driver will be displayed, select an older driver and hit next until the process completes.

Also, installing updates sometimes resolves several issues on computer. Please try to check for updates on your computer.

    Press windows key + I

    Click on Updates & Security

    Click on Check for updates

Wait till windows fetch all available updates on your computer

Download and Install the updates on your computer

Restart the computer to install pending updates and check if the wireless mouse works.

If the above method did not resolve the issue, kindly try to perform system restore to reverse any changes on your computer which triggers the issue on your wireless mouse

    Perform system restore

-This process will take your computer settings back to an earlier point in time where computer is working fine. If there's any changes made on your computer that removes the service, system restore should be able to fix the issue for you. To perform system restore please follow the steps below:

    1. Open the run box by pressing the Windows key + R and type rstrui.exe
    2. Once system restore windows open, normally it will suggest a restore point (sometimes it doesn't) if it does, select the 2nd option and hit next
    3. Select your desired restore point date and time and hit next and finish.

Windows will going to restart your computer to initiate system restore. System restore might take several minutes to complete depending on the current speed of your computer and the changes it will made. Applications and updates that was installed on the computer prior to the date selected will be removed. It is important that when system restore starts, process must not be interrupted.

    DISCLAIMER:

System Restore is a recovery tool for Windows that allows you to reverse certain kinds of changes made to the operating system. System Restore is used to return important Windows files and settings—like drivers, registry keys, system files, installed programs, and more—back to previous versions and settings. Being said all applications and changes made prior to the date selected will be removed and needs to be re-installed if its needed.

Hope this will help and have a bless day!

    Thanks.
