I think my Windows 10 is corrupted beyond repair.

For the past few weeks I have been trying everything I can in order to repair my copy of Windows 10 Pro, but nothing seems to be working.

Windows Firewall refuses to boot up, Windows Defender refuses to boot up and my computer is now slowing down a lot even though my computer is well above the average hardware-wise.

I have tried to fix things in the Registry, in Services, in the Command Prompt and in Powershell (all with elevated permissions, of course).

I have tried running the 'sfc /scannow' command in order to check the integrity of my Windows 10 installation however it tells me "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.".

I have also tried using the DISM tool to clean up my image of Windows ("DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth") and once again this does nothing.

I have nearly 4 Terrabytes of data on my machine so a factory reset is out of the question.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Good Day TaylorScire1,

I appreciate your time getting back to this thread, let's optimize your computer to repair any corrupted system files.

-Click Start, type CMD and run as administrator

-Copy and paste each of the commands below and hit enter.

    Sfc /scannow

Wait until the pc finishes scanning and repairing any corrupted system files then proceed with the next command

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Restart your computer and try to open the Windows Security.

If the issue persists, perform Repair Upgrade, this will re-install the Windows without affecting your files and apps, it will repair and replace any corrupted system files.

Step 1: Download Media Creation Tool from Microsoft.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

    Click “Download Tool Now”

    Step 2: Run MediaCreationTool.exe.

Step 3: Choose "Upgrade this PC now".

Step 4: Select "Keep personal files and apps".

    Step 5: Let it install

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

    Hi Carlo,

I am using Version: 20H2 (OS BBuild 19042.985).

Unfortunately whenever I try and open Windows Security the window appears for a fraction of a second and then closes again, I can't access it at all.

I also do not have any other antivirus software installed on my PC.

    Thank you for your repsonse!

    Good Day TaylorScire1

My name is Carlo, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

First, can you please check the Windows version you are using.

    -Press Windows key + R

    -Type Winver and hit enter

It will show you the version of Windows you are using and post it here.

If you open the Windows Security is there any error message or error codes you are getting?

-Click Start, type Windows Security and open it

-Click Virus and Threat Realtime protection

Let me know if you are getting errors.

Is there any other anti virus installed in your computer aside from the Windows Defender.

I'll look forward for your response so that I can provide an accurate recommendation.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.
