What is Windows Update: Lenovo - System - 10.0.137.0

Can't find anything on the Internet about this Windows Update I just got:

Lenovo - System - 10.0.137.0

I’ve connected with Lenovo Support and had their system look over my Lenovo P52 Thinkpad for any/all updates it might need but it says I’m totally up to date.

Based on various past microsoft update issues, I have no interest in just blindly installing it.

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge about this particular update?

Thanks

It takes some work to get details but the update appears to be an update to the Lenovo Power Manager. You can view it in Device Manager as System Devices\Lenovo Power Manager\Driver which shows as version 10.0.137.0 with date 4/16/2021.

Looking at the Driver files shows that all the DLL files carry that version number. The update automatically installed on my system on 5/28/2021 7:32 AM. Checking the base driver file yields for version, viruses, and install date yields:

    C:\Windows\System32\Lenovo\PowerMgr\PWMIF64V.dll:

         Verified: Signed

         Signing date: 12:30 AM 4/16/2021

         Company: Lenovo Group Limited

         File version: 10.0.137.0

    C:\Windows\System32\Lenovo\PowerMgr>dir /tw
Volume in drive C is Windows
    Volume Serial Number is 3C0C-2F2B

    Directory of C:\Windows\System32\Lenovo\PowerMgr

    05/28/2021 07:25 AM <DIR> .
    05/28/2021 07:25 AM <DIR> ..
    04/20/2021 02:20 AM 1,002,168 PWMIF64V.dll
    1 File(s) 1,002,168 bytes
    2 Dir(s) 272,099,688,448 bytes free

Note that the containing directory write timestamp matches the install log time.

Checking all executable files in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Lenovo\PowerMgr shows all files are signed and have no virus detections.

On Lenovo support site the Lenovo Power Manager Driver for Windows 10 is shown as version 10.0.134.0 released 21 Jan 2021. At bottom of that page it shows Last Modified Date: 30 Apr 2021.

Just a guess but it appears that Lenovo is releasing update via Windows Update before updating their own site.

    Hope this was helpful.

Excellent / thorough reply...thanks for going to all that detailed trouble.

Checking device manager on my Thinkpad, it shows the .134 driver...went through the motions of looking for a new driver and the system said I had the latest driver.

Same thing the Lenovo system said when I connected to their support site and had it scan my system for bios, drivers, etc.

I'll just leave the pending update 'hidden' for now and see if the Lenovo system catches up and installs it by itself.

    Thanks again...

You are signed into the Lenovo system and will get updates from them. These are hardware driver updates. No harm to me so far.

    Thanks, but as I mentioned:
