Adguard seems better than UUPdump. Any pros, cons, or comments?

Sibro brought up the subject of Adguard as a better alternative to UUPdump.  I've tried it and found it much faster than UUPdump and just as simple to use.  Anybody have pros or cons to add?

Thanks for the reply, FG.  I read all the posts on that link, but there were less than 10 posts there, and the thread was locked.  Some posts were pro adguard and some con there.  So what do YOU think?

    Hi,

I used it in the past and I stopped because I had some issues, beside the warning messages from the browser stating that it was an unsafe site.

The site doesn't allow any description to be collected by the browsers it is almost an anonymous site.

Also looking at the locations where it is mainly used, (Russia and China) I simply don't trust it.

You can only follow the menu on the screen, no help, no search, nothing else is available to the user.

It may as well download files from MS servers, no problem with that, but you have no idea on what those scripts you download can do to your machine beside downloading the files.

As per building the ISO, the time is the same as the other site, if you include the same number of updates.

It may seem shorter only in the case that there are no updates and or no .NET included.

That is selectable in the Convert.Config.ini in the other site. Also on the other site you can search for specific  .cab files and download only what you need.

Again it is your choice, but I just prefer not to use that site.

When I google it I don't find any reliable info about that site either.

    Regards.

I just rec'd a note that this thread has been undeleted, but I can't find it online.  I think I'm glad to see some semblance of sanity coming back to the forum!
