i was using a program named PDF xchange to view pdf files and also in preview pane where i can zoom the pdf in preview pane itself, after that i installed adobe reader for other purpose but windows file explorer taken it as default for preview pane.

now i am unable to zoom the pdf in preview pane because of adobe reader is default for preview pane and i have changed the default program to view pdf to PDF xchange but still the preview pane is with adobe.

is there a solution to change the default app for preview pane or to zoom the pdf files in preview pane without uninstalling those apps..

    Hi Prasana,

Can you try to reinstall the PDF-Xchange app? Acrobat Reader possibly overwrote the settings for the preview pane when you install it after PDF-Xchange.

Hello Paulo, thanks for the response

the option you mentioned was already in unchecked state, i have tried checked and unchecked it.

even after restarting it didn't worked, the preview pane is still with adobe reader.

Hi Prasana, I am Paulo, an Independent Advisor, and I'm willing to help.

It could be a setting on your Adobe Reader DC app. Can you try to do the following?

    1. Open the Adobe Reader app
    2. Click on Edit > Preferences
    3. Uncheck "Enable PDF thumbnail previews in File explorer"
    4. Scroll down then click on OK
    5. Close the app then restart your computer
    6. Check again your default PDF app and set it again if necessary

Let me know if this helps.
