Unable to burn/copy files to DVD using an external drive

I have been trying for days to copy photos from my laptop to a DVD and have had no success and keep having the same problem.

Please can someone help? I am not technically minded at all, especially when it comes to computers but this should be an easy thing to do, surely? Move the item you want to copy to the DVD drive and BINGO! It is copied across? Nope :/

I am using brand new Maxwell DVD -R 4.7GB 16x discs and a Rioddas External CD Drive, USB 3.0 Portable CD/DVD +/-Rw Drive Slim Dvd/CD Rom Rewriter Burner For Laptop Desktop Pc Windows 10/8/XP.

I would be so very grateful for any help. I really want to transfer the photos of my Daughter's wedding to DVDs to give to family and friends.

Thank you in advance!

    Dear Debbie,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

It looks like you do not Burn it. The procedure you have done is just copying the files to the DVD, but when you eject/insert it you do not see the files on the DVD, is that correct?

To burn files on DVD, kindly follow the procedure below:

1-Insert DVD into the DVD drive> open it> select either Like a USB flash drive or With a CD/DVD player.

2-Copy the required files to the DVD drive.

3-In the toolbar menu of the File Explorer window, click on Drive Tools then select Finish Burning.

Also, you can do right-click on the white space are in the DVD drive, and select Burn To Disc.

PS: If you’re using a write-only CD-R or DVD-R disc and you erase a file when you choose "Like a USB flash drive", the file will no longer appear in Windows, but space will still be taken up on the disc. But if you use a rewritable disc, you can erase files as you go without having to wipe the entire disc at once.

The items I am trying to copy are all .jpg files, none are protected and they are all photographs I have taken.

I have just tried to copy different .jpegs and I have the same problem :/

I cannot understand why this is not simple, a straight forward copy from laptop to a dvd! I have done this so many times before and copied music and videos to DVD with no problems. Every time I have a Windows update, I have issues with one things or another :(

Hi Saltgrass, I can see your post. I have tried using the CD/DVD option and I had exactly the same problem :/ I will try it again and see.
