wifi keeps turning off when laptop goes to sleep

Whenever my laptop goes to sleep or when I lock it or go to sleep, WiFi automatically disconnects after a couple minutes, it's frustrating because all the updates in the background and activities on the tabs open in the browser are affected.

I recently bought my DELL XPS 15.

I saw a lot of responses online too, they're old, 5-6 years old and others don't work.

Please suggest some better working solution.

Thanks,

    Hi parth.jain ,

we cannot know what other answers you have already seen if you do not specify them clearly ...

Either way, try this: Go to Device Manager> network adapters, select your network adapter in use, click on the Power Management tab, uncheck the checkbox: Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power. Click on the Advanced tab and disable any options regarding energy saving. If the MIMO Power Save Mode option is present, try setting it to No SMPS.

If that doesn't fix, update the wi-fi adapter drivers by downloading the latest version available from the Dell website.

    Hi Franco,

I think with newer devices power management tab has been eliminated from network adapter properties, since I wasn't able to find.

Although I did find MIMO power save mode in the network adapter properties in the control panel, turning it to "No SMPS" solved the problem.

    Thanks a ton!!!

    Hi parth.jain,

I'm Paul, an Independent Advisor. I hope I can help you with your concern.

Try to check Device power management.

Open Device Manager >> click Network Adapter >> right-click the WIFI driver >> click Properties >> click Power Management tab >> uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" >> click OK.

Then see if the issue is fixed.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.
