Is there a resolution to the ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED error message?

Hello!

I'm at the end of my wits trying to diagnose this problem.  If the PC is left alone for any extended period when you try to load a URL you will get ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED, it does not matter what browser.  I also notice that the weather/news widget on the taskbar will not display a weather icon and the clicking on it the news sections are incomplete or very stale.

Here's what I've tried already ...

  • DISM with the restore health option followed with scf /scannow which comes back clean
  • I've uninstalled the network adapter and drivers, rebooted, and then reinstalled with fresh OEM drivers.
  • Run Microsoft's diagnostic tool which returned that it found no problems.

I can ping the same URL's that I'm trying to hit in the browser, and they return good pings!

The only way out of this situation is to reboot the PC.

If any other diagnostic material is needed to help resolve this just tell me what is needed!

Thanks for all help!

Regards,

Dave

    Hello!

Well, it lasted a couple of days with no ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED or anything else that uses http.

    I used the commands :

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh advfirewall reset

    netsh winsock reset

    ipconfig / flushdns

    ipconfig / release

    ipconfig / renew

I did forget to mention in my original post that I'm hardwired to the router. The same happens if I just use WIFI as well. I have not looked at enabling IPV6 yet, but something tells me it's already enabled.

My eyes also tell me that other people are having issues networking as well.

I built this PC back in February, it worked flawlessly and then sometime in late March, early April this issue started to appear.

Not sure what the next step is.

    Regards,

    Dave
