can't update, uninstall or launch Origin

hi, after updating windows 10 yesterday, i now am unable to open or update origin. i can't open any of my games and every time i try to update origin i get a message saying 'Your update could not be completed. Please download and install the latest version of Origin here [a link to download origin again]' what does this mean? i'm new to pc's and have no idea how to troubleshoot issues like this and i've never had anything like this happen on my mac. to be completely honest i'm freaking out a little.

i've tried the 'uninstall and re-install' method but my computer literally won't allow me to uninstall origin. it just says that "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Defaults Programs control panel." so i tried to make an association but origin won't even show up in that control panel. Please help? I'm a bit worried

I've also posted this on the EA help forum if this is a problem solely with origin.

Try uninstalling Origin from the uninstaller on the installation folder, you can right click the Origin shortcut and select "Open file location", or manually go to Origin installation folder (Default Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin), open "OriginUninstall.exe" to uninstall it.
