How do I reinstall the Windows Fax and Scan driver in Windows 10?

I accidentally deleted it from the list of Printers & Scanners.  I can still access the program by searching for it, but it no longer appears as an option under Printers & Scanners.

The Microsoft support articles I've read suggesting accessing Windows Features -> Print and Document Services and reselecting it, but it doesn't appear in that subdirectory on my computer (Windows 10 Home x64).  The only items in my Print and Document Services folder are Internet Printing Client, LPD Print Service, and LPR Port Monitor.

Hi! My name is Anderson Souza. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you, I'll be glad to help you today.

Are you trying to re-add the feature through the Control Panel or through Windows Settings? The path to the latest versions of Windows is through Settings:

    Settings> Applications> Optional Features> Add a feature

Windows Fax & Scan lost the ability to connected with Brother printer following the last Windows Update.

I do not know how to make the computer recognize the scanner.

I wonder why you would even bother? WF&S is years old and hasn't been updated in all that time. Even when it was introduced years ago, it had a rudimentary set of functionality. You will do much better to run the software that came with your scanner or fax machine.

When I access it through the Windows Setting path you suggested, it appears within the list of installed features.

Does that mean it's still fully functional, even though it no longer appears under Windows Settings -> Devices -> Printers & scanners?

    Thank you for your help!

The scanning program that came with the printer glitched and continued to do so even after turning off and restarting both computer and printer.  I uninstalled the scanner/software but was unable to reinstall it due to an error message.  Now only the printer portion of my printer shows up under the list of devices, not the scanning/faxing portion.
