Windows 10 Disk Cleanup *not working after update*

Hello,

Recently I updated my windows 10 edition to 21H1. But, currently I'm expeirencing problems with disk cleanup.

It runs in regular mode, but not with admin privillages.

It opens in memory, and consumes RAM and that's it. To end it, I needed to go to Task Manager.

Sincerly,

LukaMatovic1

    Hi LukaMatovic1,

Good day! This is Jhakesong an Independent Advisor and I will be happy to assist you with this.

I am sorry to hear about the inconvenience. The update might have corrupted the supporting files of disk cleanup. See if this helps:

    Run System File Checker

    1. Press Windows key + S, this will open search
    2. Type cmd, run command prompt as administrator
    3. Enter this command and press enter: sfc /scannow
    4. Wait for the process to finish and reboot your computer.
    5. Check if the issue still persists.

    Run windows image fix.

    1. Press Windows key + S, this will open search
    2. Type cmd, run command prompt as administrator
    3. Enter this command and press enter: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    4. Wait for the process to finish and reboot your computer.
    5. Check if the issue still persists.

Delete Temp files in the %temp% folder:

    1. Press Windows key + R and press enter
    2. Type %temp%
    3. Press CTRL + A to select everything
    4. Press Delete
    5. There may be items that will not delete, skip those
    6. Once that is finished, try disk cleanup again.

Let me know how it goes. Have a great day!

also had the same problem with disk cleanup, once upgraded to Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.928) when running disk cleanup either by right clicking on properties under C:\ drive or by going to start menu and type in disk cleanup it has no problem running it under the user account but when you try to run it as admin privileges' under this windows build its very slow to run it ran on my desktop computer, but under my laptop I am still waiting for it to open to remove windows.old directory, that's my only reason to run it, the build itself is fine besides this since it was released as stable for all windows 10 users to upgrade to under windows updates, it just finally opened under my laptop it took longer in any case, this is a problem in this release it looks like that bug was not caught before this released this new build of windows 10. it does run but for some reason its very slow to launch the gui interface for Disk Cleanup. I am going to report this bug under Feedback Hub app in windows 10, may be a better place to report it at in any case. please note- I am trying to reinstall Feedback Hub is crashing a lot under Version 21H1. from Microsoft store I am now reinstalling it in hopes it stops crashing was not crashing before the upgrade, I guess that another bug they missed. the whole App selection seems to be black and when you click on it been crashing that's the first bug I found besides this one. Feedback Hub has become very unstable since upgrading windows 10. Windows 10 itself seems to be fine.
