S mode is the worst thing I've seen come from Microsoft, ever. Nobody who uses a computer should be limited to only use Microsoft applications. Just switch out and never look back. Or trade your computer in for a Mac, because otherwise it's useless.
Windows 10 S Mode (S stands for sucks)
Please tell me there's a way to get Microsoft to review and verify "3rd-party" apps so we can download and use them without having to switch out of S Mode...
I would like to stay in S Mode, but also love to install a few apps that I need to use. But, if I keep having issues, I'll just leave S mode and download what I want and change my browser as I see fit...
Still not happy with this (S Mode) Monopoly, uh, Microsoft feature/program.

2021-04-01T18:40:45+00:00 The whole idea behind 'S' mode is that you are limited to apps from Microsoft Store and Microsoft Edge is your only browser. That's why people buy a Windows 'S' computer in the first place. If that's not what you wanted, then why did you buy a computer with Windows 10 'S'?
From Microsoft: Switching Out of S Mode
What an asinine thing to say. Most laptops are sold with S mode. Switching out of S mode should be as simple as pressing a button. Unfortunately it's not. Like most things Microsoft does this is one step forward two steps back. Over the last several years Microsoft has become an absolute mess. S mode functionality or should be called dysfunctionality and Windows activation errors. God forbid you purchased an upgrade key to go to Pro from home S mode. Microsoft will no longer give you the upgrade key that you purchased. I have run an IT corporation for over 25 years. I am seeing more market share move to Chrome OS and Macs. My company is now sending our techs for chrome and Mac training. We have stopped selling all laptops outside of Chrome books, macs and surface Pro with pro.

2021-04-27T01:50:42+00:00 I thought S mode would just block questionable apps, not normal mainstream ones like Overdrive from the public library. I wish I'd been able to see a list of what I could not access if I bought the Surface GO. I chose it because I was very happy with the Surface 3, but this S mode has turned me against Microsoft computers.

I'm still waiting for someone buying a Windows S computer willingly and knowingly. That migh be a very small number of users. Most that I know buy them because of price and never knew what big pile of useless OS is S-Mode

2021-04-05T10:27:33+00:00 I agree with the last response, but for a different reason. Most of the population do not understand technology well enough. I know because I am one of them. The sales pitch mentioned Windows 10....no mention of the 'S'. I'm now stuck with partially effective software to protect me.....and the new vendor didn't mention the Windows 10 S removal.
So. I'm left with MS (MyS***).
