WiFi driver - Qualcomm Atheros QCA16x4A Wireless Network Adapter gives error code 10 - device cannot start.

Hi,

I recently started facing this issue with my wifi driver few weeks back. It randomly stops working and gives me error code 10. I tried the most basic troubleshoot, restarting windows but the issue still persisted.

I looked about the issue myself and tried to troubleshoot via the following steps :

  • Disabling the device and then enabling it from device manager
  • Uninstalling it and then reinstalling the device driver
  • Resetting windows socket using  - netsh winsock reset
  • Resetting WAN ports using - netcfg -d
  • Checked if the error was with hardware using - ping 127.1.1.1 (gave normal response so I confirm it is software issue.)
  • Restarting WLAN Autoconfig/ WWAN Autoconfig services
  • Doing a Network Reset
  • Doing Windows Restore
  • Tried updating the driver (Windows stated best version of the driver is installed.)

I am using Acer Swift 3 (SNID - 83500050172) and the current version of the network driver is 12.0.0.722.

Performing the above steps gets my WiFi drive back up working but it lasts for 10-15 minutes before going back to unusable state with code 10 error.

I checked the event log and found this :

Device PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_003E&SUBSYS_080711AD&REV_32\4&d7fc392&0&000F was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

Any help is appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

    Hello Carlo,

I tried installing the new driver as per the steps.

However it seems to be giving me some new error as below

After trying system reboot, it works a bit but then it goes back to

Following which, I disable the device and then enable it to be working again. So far it has been working fine for about ~30mins.

I think I should get it checked by professionals.

Thank you so much for your help and time!

    Hey Carlo,

    Thanks for your support.

I tried the steps you suggested, however the issue is still present. I can get the network adaptor working for 10-15mins but it goes back to code 10 /code 43 error.

I tried installing a previous version of the driver and it gave me code 10 "device does not exist" error. I am really clueless on what could be causing this issue.

However, below are my system model details :

Thanks again for your support Carlo.

Have a great day. Take Care. :)
