Hey everyone,

Just recently my computer will not hibernate sometimes. I press the power button to hibernate, it goes black for a second and quickly returns to the lock screen. Today, I pressed the hibernate button 5 times before (I think) it went into hibernate. I left it for around 8 hours and when I got back on it, I could not turn it on. The light on the side of the computer was flashing indicating that it was on standby (I think) but it wouldn't turn on. Had to hold the power button to reset it and then it turned on, updated some stuff, restarted and then finally got to the lock screen. Checked event manager and I had Event ID: 45 multiple times from when I pressed hibernate as well as Event ID: 6008 which said "The previous system shutdown at 7:53:14 PM on ‎6/‎5/‎2021 was unexpected." which was about half an hour before I turned it on. Also Event ID: 506 and 507 "The system is entering connected standby/Reason: AC/DC Display Burst Suppressed."

Also this?? "Power Manager has requested suppression of all input (INPUT_SUPPRESS_REQUEST=1)"

I am not great with computers. I've got no idea what any of this means really. I've got an ASUS VivoBook 14.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you for your help Bernard. I've done the first 3 methods and it seems to be working fine. My problem was with the hibernate function however, but I suppose just changing the power button to sleep works as well. I don't think hibernate really makes that much of a difference anyway.

While you're here, just wondering if you knew how to fix a problem that I've got when I plug in my headphones? Doesn't always detect that I've plugged them into the computer. To fix it I have to open Realtek Audio Console and replug in the headphone jack for it to detect. Not sure what's causing it.

Hi and thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard an Independent Advisor and a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today.

This problem actually occurs when there is a problem on your power options, kindly follow the steps below and I hope this helps.

Method 1. Restore default power options

-Press Windows key + R then type:

    powercfg -restoredefaultschemes

    -Restart PC and check.

    Method 2. Run power Troubleshooter

    • Press Windows key + R then type:

    msdt.exe /id PowerDiagnostic

    • Click OK then follow the prompt to run the power troubleshooter

    -Restart the device after

    Method 3.

Open Control Panel> Click Hardware and Sound > Click Power Options> then click Choose what the power buttons do > Click Change settings that are currently unavailable> Check Sleep (or uncheck then check it again)

    Click Save Changes then restart.

    Method 4. Do clean boot:

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
    • On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    • Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
    • Close Task Manager.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.
