Cannot get 3840x2160 resolution on Windows 10

I got a Samsung 32 inch S70A 4K UHD (3840x2160) High Resolution Monitor, plugged into Windows 10 machine, but it shows recommended resolution of 1920x1080. I have a NVIDIA Quadro K400 display adapter and I am connecting the monitor through display port (DP to HDMI converter). Any thoughts on what may be going on? Thanks.

    Hey there,

The PC might have not detected the correct resolution of your monitor. Your graphics card supports 3840*2160 resolution positively. Go to Settings->System->Display. Check the display resolution. If it's incorrect, try changing it to the required one.

If it doesn't change, the Graphics driver might not be working. Open Device Manager by right clicking on Windows logo on taskbar, or by searching it using Search. In Display Adapters, right click on NVIDIA->Properties. First disable it, then re-enable it. Also do keep your drivers updated for better experience!

For any further issues, just reply here. Will be happy to help.

    Regards,

Thanks for the comments, but it seems to have been an issue with using an HDMI to DP connector. Looks like with HDMI on the monitor and DP on the workstation using the connector does not allow higher resolution. I switched to using the pure DP to DP connector and now I am getting the full resolution.

    Hey  George,

I  already checked the  official  specification of  Quadro  K400 adapter. It  positively supports   the  required resolution. You can  check  the  snapshot  below.

Hi there BR_312, I'm George a windows user just like you and I'm interested with

your system connection as already highlighted by two other members. The problem appears to be with your Graphics card rather than your Monitor?

If you want to reach the high resolution of your 4K Monitor, you need to upgrade your Graphics Card. The resolution of your Nvidia Graphics Card will never reach that of your 4K Monitor at 3840 X 2160

The other  thing when you get a better/ higher resolution Graphics Card is to connect both your Monitor & Graphics Card using a HDMI Cable and NOT using a display port on your new Graphics Card or a converter as you are doing now?

Hope this will help you out to attain the desired objective?

I have a Samsung 4 K TV as my Monitor with the same resolution as yours connected to my Desktop Computer using a HDMI Cable from my EVGA 3080 Graphics Card to the HDMI Port on my TV and works beautifully. I have the option to use the resolution of my 4K TV when using my windows Deluxe11 Desktop Computer.

    Regards

    George
