I need to know how to UNINSTALL and completely REMOVE any and all vestiges of the microsoft news app that was installed without my permission by windows update.

I don't want to know how to just "hide" the damn thing, I want it GONE and NEVER coming back. I didn't ask for it, I don't want it, I didn't give permission to install this ****. I want to know how to REMOVE IT, asap.

When I uninstall those updates, is it selective or will it roll back drivers and everything else? Furthermore, there is no way to turn off automatic updates, so if I uninstall them, microsoft will just reinstall the spyware sometime in the future. I need to know how to uninstall those things that I do not want, and PREVENT them from ever being installed again.

Hi Joe. I'm Greg, an Independent Advisor.

I'm sorry it wasn't explained that after System Restoring or uninstalling the offending update you need to then immediately run the Show/Hide Updates tool to find and hide the Update. It will stay hidden until you unhide it, or the next version.

More about how to hide updates here:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8280-hide-s...

I can vouch for this working because I have the same Update hidden and it's not reinstalling.

If you want to express your opinion on this to Microsoft use the Feedback Hub app in Start Menu where developers are tasked to process consumer feedback. They will not even see it here. This is a tech forums staffed mostly by volunteers trying to help others with your problems.

If you want to post back a Share link from your Feedback here others who see this thread can vote it up and add to it, to build momentum. I'll also track the issue for you.

Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.

Thanks, but that won't work. The reason being, after 7 days, the sorry junk will just be installed again because it'll update without me allowing it to.

    Hello JoeKidd243,

Please try the following methods below.

Please check the tutorial guide below by Shawn Brink - MVP on How to Disable News and Interests on Taskbar in Windows 10

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/178178-how-...

If you want to completely remove the News and Interests widget, you may need to consider uninstalling the recent updates.

Please try uninstalling the recent May and June updates KB5003214 and KB5003637.

Press Start then click Settings(Gear icon)

Select Update and Security > View update history

    Click Uninstall Updates

Under Microsoft Windows, select KB5003214 and KB5003637 in the list then Click Uninstall

Wait for the updates to uninstall

    Restart your computer

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

    Kind regards,
