Allow apps to communicate through windows defender firewall

Hi,

Can someone clarify something for me as simply as possible ?

Can I disable WLAN Service- WFD application services Platform Coordination Protocol and WLAN Service- WFD Services Keenel Mode Driver Rules from “list of allowed apps to communicate through Windows defender firewall”?

What does each mean and what are their functions? Is it reales to connection od drivers?

I want to limit list of allowed apps for security but i dont want to do anything that will make things worse.

Please explain

    1. Yes! You can simply understand it as a service that uses wireless technology for data transmission such as projection.
    2. Generally refers to related drivers involved in the use of wireless technology.

    If you have no need for wireless transmission, you can try to disable it. Of course, you can also enable it when you need it in the future.

    Hi!

    1. Depending on the device, some use WiFi and some use Bluetooth;
    2. Disabling the service does not affect the update and use of the corresponding driver;
    3. It can be disabled according to your own needs.

    Hi,

    I don’t use Wifi-Direct. I use USB if i want to connect my phone to my PC and I use wifi router to connect to internet.

    1-My question is do you mean drivers need wifi-direct to function generally? Like is it necessary ? Can you clarify this? Or can they function by internet only?

    2-If i disable the WLAN Service- Kernel Mode, which i have for a month, will my drivers update and fucntion properly generally ?

    3-I want to make sure by disabling it my security and functionality of the PC is preserved, right?

    Hello,

    Can you clarify some things for me

    1-According to my reasearch WFD refers to Wifi direct, when two devices connect without the use of wifi or cable. Like airdrop in iphone. Is that right?

    2- If you go to Windows Defender Firewall < Allow apps to communicate through windows defender firewall, you see a list and there is WLAN Service- WFD Services Kernel Mode Drive. What exactly is it? In description it says for drivers communicate through WFD. What does it mean by drivers? I only have one driver which is OS (c) Does it mean if i disable they wont communicate generally and put me at risk  or they wont communicate trough wifi direct?

    If i want to connect anything to be my PC i do it through USB and i dont connect to tv or anytging. So in this case can I disable that ?

    According to your description, WFD refers to Wi-Fi Display, mobile phone/mobile PC-TV/display will be able to achieve wireless connection.

    It is generally used for Miracat in Windows 10. If it is disabled,

    It may cause problems in the use of Miracast.
