Keyboard partially out of order : i=5, j=1, etc.

My WMP was out of order for an unknown reason. On July 26th I got in touch with MS assistance. The person took over my pc and helped me reinstall WMP. However I realised on next morning that my keyboard got partially out of order : i=5, j=1,  etc. So am now bound to use the visual keyboard, which is very slow.

On July 27th I got in touch again for this problem, spent a very long time with a member of MS team. He tried unsuccessfully to take over, So pb remains. What can I do ?

Have you checked if Num Lock is turned on, press the Num Lock key or Fn + NumLock to see if that fixes the problem

    Dear JEANFREMONT

I'm Dyari. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

Kindly try these additional steps in order to indicate whether the issue is software or hardware related:

1-Try to use another keyboard and check if the issue still persists or not. If the issue still persists, it means the issue is related to the software issue and it is best to Update its driver from Device Manager. If it does not fix the issue, uninstall the keyboard driver and download then install the latest driver from the manufacturer's website.

2-Try to connect the keyboard to another computer (if you are using a PC). If the keyboard has the same issue, it means the keyboard has a hardware issue.

3- Some keyboards do not have a physical number pad but you can enable it by pressing a Numpad button which is located on the keyboard, then some of the keywords type numbers instead of letters. Check if you have not enabled it.

4-Try to connect the keyboard to another USB port.

5-Change the keyboard layout and check whether the issue still persists or not:

6-If you recently updated your Windows, uninstall the update or perform a system restore.

7-If your keyboard warranty is still applicable, contact your product's manufacturer to run a diagnostic on your device.

Please let me know if you need further assistance and keep me updated.
