System 32 dll file problem

I tried to get into a file folder but came across a corrupt file message. The laptop then tried to "repair the hard drive" twice (although it might have been stage 1 and stage 2). I've re-set Windows three times and added all my Apps back on 3 times. I've gone through Windows 10 Updates as they've come up on my system. I've tried a number of fixes after reading posts on this forum - Sys Scan and the Repair functions - all messages are that there's nothing wrong with my drivers or files. When I open a Windows App (365) there's no error messages. However on any external App - Firefox and Affinity Designer, Photo and Publisher - I get the message I'm about to post a screen shot of. I just don't know what to try next. If you are kind enough to reply can you please be gentle with me and not be too techny. Many thanks.

    Hi,

My name is Igor, I have 12 Microsoft MVP awards. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you. I'm sorry you have a problems.

Likeky the file mentioned in error message is a part of some NVidia driver or app. Please update or at least reinstall all NVidia apps and tools you have.

    Igor,

You are a star :) Thank you so much.

I saw Nvidia mentioned in a couple of places when I was investigating this problem but had no idea what Nvidia was. I inherited the laptop and it is an MSI gaming laptop. I've tried to create a login 3 times via the App on my laptop but encountered an error each time. I crossed my fingers for luck and deleted the Nvidia App and, hey presto, everything appears to be working properly again.

I have looked online and found Nvidia but have not downloaded anything from them because I'm not sure if I need the App now. I don't use the laptop for gaming and that seems to be Nvidia's purpose.

    Thank you again. Great advice.
